An initial assessment will be performed. If findings indicate that you are a good candidate for vestibular rehabilitation, treatment can start immediately. Your program will include one or more of the following:
- An individualized home program with periodic follow-up visits to monitor your progress. Most clients report a significant improvement in their symptoms within 3-4 weeks.
- Supervised therapy sessions 1-2 times per week combining challenges to the vestibular, visual and balance systems. There is also an emphasis on fall prevention, coordination and increased activity levels.
- Repositioning maneuver(s) designed for a condition called B.P.P.V. (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) where crystals or debris are caught in the vestibular canals. Usually only 1 or 2 maneuvers are required to eliminate the condition.
A report on your assessment findings and progress will be sent to your doctor.
