Many dizziness and balance
problems come from a disturbance of the vestibular apparatus located
in the inner ear, or its connections in the brain. This apparatus
detects head position and head movement, and send this information to
the brain. The brain uses this information to control our balance and
eye movements.
Vestibular problems can come from:
Ear infections
Aging
Head trauma (like car accidents, falls, impact sports, strokes, brain injuries)
Illness or disease
Inflammation of the nerve going to the balance center
Medication
Blood flow problems in the head
Neck problems
